CONCEPT - SPEAKING SKILLS What do you understand by 'speaking skills'? Speaking is one of the basic language skills which also include listening, reading, and writing. It is an interactive process of forming meaning by means of linguistic symbols (words, phrases, sentences) of a language. Speaking includes producing, receiving, and processing information while interacting with other individuals. In short, speaking involves a minimum of two individuals who share and exchange information through the spoken linguistic symbols a language. Speaking requires the speaker to know the following components of a language: Grammar Pronunciation Vocabulary Use of language in specific contexts (when and how to speak what) Moreover, everyone has his or her own skills, structure, and style of speaking. CONCEPT - PARAGRAPH WRITING What do you understand by 'paragraph'? A paragraph is a collection of sentences conveying a common idea. We write paragraphs for the purpose of explaining things, ideas, and concepts. The sentences in a paragraph are organized in logical order and coherence in order to make the idea clear and comprehensive. Besides, grammatical correctness, use of right vocabulary and jargon, and writing style are also relevant aspects to work on while writing a paragraph. While writing a paragraph, make sure you check the following points: Accuracy:  The information shared through the paragraph must be correct and accurate. Brevity: Try to use brief and simple sentences making the information comprehensible for readers. Clarity: There should be no grammatical error in terms of wrong use of tense or jargon, vocabulary repetition, and so on. Uniformity: Try to keep uniformity throughout the paragraph. CONCEPT - TENSE What is a tense? What are the basic tenses in English? Tense is a category for expressing TIME REFERENCE in a language by means of specific forms of verbs. In English, we use THREE basic tenses - Past, Present, and Future. Past Tense: It indicates an action that happened in the past, relative to the speaker or writer. For example, We visited  Cameron Highlands last week. Present Tense: It indicates an action that happens habitually, everyday, or now, relative to the speaker or writer. For example, I go to guitar class every Saturday. Future Tense: It indicates an action that will happen in the future, relative to the speaker or writer. For example, She will leave soon. CONCEPT - CREATIVE WRITING What do you understand by 'creative writing'? Any form of writing that is ORIGINAL and SELF-EXPRESSIVE can be termed as creative writing. Instead of using facts, a work of creative writing involves IMAGINATION, EMOTIONS, and HUMAN EXPERIENCE understood and expressed by the writer. It can include both FICTION (short stories, novels, poems) and NONFICTION (biographies, memoirs, personal essays). Example: Just think of the soliloquies (monologues or self-speeches of a character in a play) in Shakespeare's Hamlet ,   or the amazing plots of Harry Potter !
