CONCEPT - FEATURE WRITING What is feature writing? Feature writing is a form of writing that presents information in a creative manner. More particularly, it does not include hard news or firsthand description of news. Feature stories are narrative in nature while written more elaborately and creatively for the purpose of educating, entertaining, and illuminating readers about the story. Feature writing is clearly not the same as news writing. News reports usually highlight the facts of events with accuracy whereas feature stories emphasize on giving the story a narrative approach with true or make-believe details, primarily allowing the readers to see the story through detailed description and creative writing. CONCEPT - COMMON ERRORS What are common errors in English? As learners of English, we sometimes tend to slip by little and common grammar mistakes. Most of the times, especially when self-editing, we do not even realize that we are making these minor grammatical mistakes or slip-ups. Therefore, it's important for us to do some rechecks of the words, phrases, and sentences we write. Some of the easiest ways include checking dictionaries (online, offline, or printed) for the right spelling along with the appropriate use of meaning; asking friends and peers with knowledge of better spelling and vocabulary use to edit and proofread your write-up; reading grammar guides online/offline to know and understand the use of punctuation, and most certainly, practicing grammatical correctness as regularly as possible.
